Pat, the gifts you are sending out are very nice. I think sending them in individual baggies will keep the germs away. My little ones would all love to get the gifts you are sending. Candy canes are the best!

Sassy, for some unknown reason I never thought about the germs on the cake. I'm not sure why but it never crossed my mind. The kids always loved the tradition and I have lots of pictures of candles being blown out over the years.

I sent off all the packages with only stickers on the packages, which were
ziplock bags containing a hat, candy cane (wrapped with a $20 bill) and an envelope of Swiss Miss. No bows. No bright paper wrapping. This way the gifts fit in smaller boxes and I'm assuming the individual baggies will keep each one safer from the standpoint of picking up a stray virus. You're right - this holiday season is very different.

As for blowing out the candles, I have always thought that was a gross tradition, and even more so in the light of passing nasty little germs.
