...Andrea. And so sad to see that since 1945 we've come....er...nowhere. Moved not at all.
Why?
For in 50 years, when everone knows better, the condemnation of Iraqis, Afghans, Palestinians and Muslims everywhere by President Bush will be widely seen being as hateful, stupid and short-sighted as Ford's words seem to us today.
And Watson of IBM putting profits first, ignoring the fact that his product was being used in mass murder? Shocking! Of course it's all QUITE different today in the swanky boardrooms of Lockheed-Martin, British Aerospace Systems, GKN-Westland and a host of other global arms and weapons manufacturers. They don't do that at all, do they? My, my - we've come SO far, and we are SO civilised nowadays.
Or not.

the Passion
I heard that one of the criticisms of Gibson's movie is that it downplays the role of the Romans. I am loathe to disparage, but in line with your comments on Ford, I read an article on Watson, the 1940's era CEO of IBM, which indicated that he was fully aware that the company's Holling machine was being used to administer the attempted extermination of the Jews but did not consider this more important than the company's business interests.
