Re: Re: Re: Goldiec,

Teriyaki is a blend of salty/sweet/tart, and can be made of any ingredients that accomplish that. Yoshida is a bit sweeter than standard Japanese, and has some other spices in it. I sometimes mix it with a bit of rice wine vinegar for a dipping sauce for pot-stickers.

Ciel, is Hawaiian teriyaki sauce sweet?

Re: Annicita,

Koshary looks tasty, but way too many carbs for me! I am now thinking of stuffed grape leaves, too--the proper kind with more than just rice in them. I have leaves in the fridge, too, so I can practice some.

Re: Sea Gypsy,

Dumplings are so easy to make, too.

The key with lamb is to not over-cook it. Many people don't care for it because they have never had it cooked well. Just well-done.

Re: Kabu,

Maybe zoom phone calls with friends, with relatives? Maybe someone you know could set that up for you. I don't know how it works, myself, yet.

Re: sassyass,

Both your soups sound really tasty! My turkey soup without dumplings was good for a couple of meals. Now I want something else!

Re: Goldiec,

Yoshida sauce is a Hawaiian teriyaki sauce. I get it at my regular grocery store.

Your Christmas menu sounds pretty delicious!

Falafel sounds awesome as well as koshary. Love them both and might make soon. I miss them.

Oh, I'd love those dumplings. I also use Bisquick. I love lamb so that would be nice for Christmas. You dinner sounds lovely. A Middle Eastern palate is what suits me fine. But also a ham is easy or a roast. This year, who knows what Christmas will be like, but we always had celebrated it on Christmas Eve also. Whatever you make, I'm sure it will be tasty.

I remember very busy Christmas times with very little sleep. Happy Days from long ago. Also quieter days with Wiley and a stoned on cat nip cat. This one what will I do??? maybe sleep. LOL

Yum! Chicken noodle soup and dumplings are perfect for a chilly day.

I still have one small container of ham leftover from Thanksgiving. It will go into my 15-bean soup. We serve spiral ham for our Christmas dinner. As for tonight, I am making a hearty hamburger vegetable soup.

Ciel, your soup sounds delicious.  I'm wondering what Yoshida sauce is?  I've not heard of it before.  I have spaghetti sauce cooking in my crockpot and nice aromas are coming from the kitchen.  I wanted to make something different from what we had on Thanksgiving and this is what I came up with.  All our leftovers are gone and that makes me very happy.  We did have a wonderful dinner and now I'm glad the turkey and ham are gone.  I shared the last of our cookies with our two neighbors and they loved them.

I never make as much food for Christmas as I do for Thanksgiving.  I think our main dish will be ham and we will have mashed potatoes because all the kids love them so much.  I make biscuits for every holiday.  For a vegetable, we will have corn and green beans to go with the ham.  There will be pies, cookies, and I may make candy.
