Yes, I would find a piece of cloth or a wooden object to splinter or aid.

Like TAPS, I would try to do something. I have a friend whose husband was a physician. He was older than she but youthful. Eventually he did pass away, but she felt badly that she couldn't "save" him. Actually, I had to quickly fashion a tourniquet from a dish towel very quickly a couple of Labor Days ago when there was an accident to Himself's foot and blood was squirting all over the kitchen floor, just to make it to Emergency okay. First Aid training kicks in at times.

I would try to do something.  Even though I am long retired, I'm still a nurse at heart.
