This is a really good beginning to a story.  I can just imagine where this is going.  I'm thinking this couple is in dangerous territory.  They obviously have no clue but something is definitely wrong.  Great writing!

Sassy, why don't you take it to the next step?

Take us back to Zane's other life, (or Dorrie's). Or tell us who the mysterious swimmer was, what they were up to.

You left this story with an interesting twist of intrigue.

The fact that they meet up each year reminded me of a movie that I watched many years ago. Same Time, Next Year, starring Alan Alda. 1978. Maybe they are married to others, and the diver is a PIU hired by one of their jealous spouses. I can't wait to see where you go with this.
