Re:
C_C_T, I'm so thankful it's not too bad where you are. Stay safe and out of harm's way! Where you live are the neighbors close to you?

Thankfully it is not too bad in Oxfordshire but up North shut downs are happening all over. I don't think we shall see the back of this until a vaccine is proven. Of course if one is careful one might catch a mild dose and then be immune, but it is chancy.

Re: Oh my, those numbers just continue to grow.
Sassy, I'm sorry to hear your numbers are going up too! The Governor now says he will consider shutting us all down again if it gets too bad and I sure don't want to see that happen. I'm sure John is irritated and we've got a lot of new cases right here. I keep hoping one day I will wake up and it will be gone but it's not looking good right now. Thanks so much for your comment.

Oh my, those numbers just continue to grow.
They are here too. John is irritated that the Union bosses do not enforce the guys in wearing their masks. We wear ours everywhere. There are now several cases at the mill, and we have a nearby nursing home that continues to have new cases. It feels like this will never end.

What I belive is in play is Caution Fatigue, which is being named COVID fatigue. Basically, people get tired of following the rules and will bend and break them.

Sea Gypsy, California has suffered all year and I feel so bad about that. I know you are right about doing the things we love. I have my books, music, internet, and all my friends online. I am counting my blessings and I simply must take one day at a time. I went on my Facebook account and one of my friends sent me an invitation to a Christmas site. I accepted and checked it out. There are so many beautiful Christmas pictures but I see there's none that I can share. It made me so happy to see the beautiful Christmas scenes. Thank you so much for your comment!

Re: Re: It's not just Cleveland or the Midwest or Canada - it's everywhere and
Don’t feel bad. Months ago New Year‘s was cancelled here in California and by cancelling the Rose Parade so I knew we would lose all holidays here before then. Now is the time to seek comfort in music, books, hobbies, and to be grateful for medicines, cars, phones and messaging. It’s what humans have had to do since time immemorial - adapt, but these restrictions go against our very nature. We all desire our freedoms and our families. This plague will end one day.

BC_A, thank you so much for the comment. Thanks for reminding me of one of my favorite Christmas shows! It's Shrek's Christmas cartoon. It's all about loving your friends.

Pat, thank you so much for your comment. I thought I had come to terms with this virus until it took a turn for the worse. We all love our holidays and we really look forward to them. Right now everything is up in the air. Roy said he heard they may cancel Halloween. That would really upset the kids. I guess only time will tell what is going to happen.

Re:
Kabu, it does make sense about the masks but this virus is showing up everywhere!
Maybe I should just use my plastic. The Governor said to day that we probably won't get a vaccine till sometime next year! I really do hope you can see your family again. God Bless you!

It's not just Cleveland or the Midwest or Canada - it's everywhere and
making a second run at us it seems. I think keeping the mask and handwashing in mind will help stave it off - and eating healthy, taking our vitamins, etc., will help our immune systems. I always get the flu shots every fall, and as soon as they come out with a vaccine for this beyutch, I'm getting that, too. I do agree with you that it's scary and depressing. I don't think the stores let customers try on clothes these days, I guess folks just have to take their measurements and find sizes that way. I know those kids will miss that adventure with you.

This old nurse says that masks do help along with distancing. Otherwisw why would staff have been wearing masks all these years in hospitals. Also distancing but I heard that the virus can live on bank notes our money and on glass so I suggest using the plastic is a good way to go. Something tells me that this pandemic isn't going away any time soon. I have resigned myself that I will never get back to Australia to see my family again.

I've been wondering myself about just how this virus from another land is spreading, and has been spreading. It is very troublesome. We have had so much taken from us this year and it isn't going to stop for a while, it seems. We all have to hang in there. Those of us who were used to going where we pleased, dining with friends and family, visiting relatives or other loved ones, shopping, using toilet paper...yeah, everyone has had to bite it for a while. Oops. I mean, we must be pliable, mutable, creative, and wait for it to pass.
