Ok, first, did he tell you the ss # he did have? if it is correct, you probably should get lifelock or legal shield. I use the latter Let them know about this guy and they can see if he has been messing with your credit...including piling up bills you are not aware of. It happens to the best of us Taps. 
Guys like him, hope you do nothing.

I came very close to danger this Summer. I let two people in the house because first a phone call told me that they were coming. I never left them alone for a minute and then they left suddenly in a hurry. I think that the police were on their tail. Wiley was scammed years ago now. They really prey on the elderly.

Taps I get calls just the same. I now do not answer any numbers I do not recognise.
Someone said bascally it is machines calling trying to suss out the vunerable.
I also ran a complete virus scan on my computer.

I get calls like this every single day and they call in the morning, afternoon, or evening. We had to buy a phone that has a block feature and I block them all. I would suggest getting one of these phones. I'm fortunate that I trust no one so I've never talked to them. Our phone does not have an answering machine because I didn't want them to leave ridiculous messages. I think this happens to everyone. Once the number they are calling from is blocked they cannot get through on that number. Then they use another number and I block that one too. I think right now I have 150 numbers blocked and then I go in and delete some numbers and block more. I wish the government could do something about this. My messenger on Facebook has been hacked so many times that I've lost count. Then I have to change my passwords. Don't feel bad about anything that you have done. The world is full of these evil people and we just simply have to finds ways to get around them.

I have a landline too, Pat_B. I too am sorry that you are going through this. Do not answer their calls anymore. They eventually do go away.

My mother-in-law fell victim to these scams.
She lives on $900 a month and was giving it to some guy who told her that he loved her after they talked for about a month. He claimed to be many things but was none of them. He was a 29-year-old man from Nigeria but told her that he was 70, semi-retired and wealthy. We have since got her back on track after she almost starved from a lack of money. Scammers come in all shapes and sizes, and they are from all walks of life. Now that you have been harassed, do not answer your phone unless you recognize the number. Do not accept new friend requests unless you know who it is from. Good luck to you.

My phone has a call block feature - yes, it is a landline.
It's a simple thing to block numbers using my caller ID and this block button. If you've got a Best Buy store in your neighborhood, they sell this type of phone and it's not very expensive. Or if you have caller ID get this creep's number and give it to your local police. They'll pass the info to your state's attorney general or FBI so they can grab this dirtbag. There seem to be more robo calls and scams than usual these days. Sorry you're being threatened this way. Be safe.

Yes, my poor father fell victim to Boiler Room Bastards! Forgive me, but that is the nicest term I have for them. Like many, he was embarassed to tell us. You are wise to not speak to them. They are dirt. But then, I'm prejudiced.
