Re: adnohr
I like C_C_T's idea best. I could get PD & Phil to do it for me.

Re: C_C_T
I never thought about burying them LOL. I can't bury them here but PD (Son) has lots of places that one could bury them there. Love that idea.

I'll bet you are very fast at doing it.

Here we have to roll them or the bank charges to take them. The bank also charges stores to buy them! I still have a couple of jars with Bird's coins lying around here. I think I'll give them to my Rugrats.

The bank will take them here ,but make a charge. I had some once every week a woman who kept foxes handed me greasy change for eggs. I kept it separate and in the end I just buried it. Perhaps in many years time it will be a poor man's treasure trove.

I myself am an old-fashioned hand roller. I can show up outside of the local bank, and they'll take the coin from me. It works out well.

Re: Annicita
Our bank is locked up tighter than a drum because of Covid-19. One cannot get in without an appointment and they actually come out to make sure it is you wanting in and they don't take coins from the drive through banking. It's not easy and welcoming any longer. Just too much trouble.

Most stores have coin machines in the lobby. They do charge 11% to do it. Your bank would do it but it will take a few days to put in your account.

We have the same issue, but we actively save coins for a rainy day.
We plan on sitting down one day and rolling them after we have filled all of our banks. From there, we will use the savings for a much-needed vacation. Good luck. It isn't a bad thing to have around.

Re: I always end up running out of cash and spending mine
Now that is the right way to take care of them...spend them. That's what they were made for. Modern times is just much different for old ladies. It is so much easier to just order and have delivered.

Re: Corbin_Dallas
I haven't even heard the word Kroger for many years. I don't think KC has any of those anymore, but what fun memories of going to that store in the good old days.

Re: In addition to being an inconvenient errand to be run to some coin
The heaviness is the worst part for me. PD is looking for one of those coin machines. He says he will take them in batches.

In addition to being an inconvenient errand to be run to some coin
sorting machine - they're heavy. And in this case, there's an emotional load as well. I think I'd keep a small amount for sentimental reasons.

I take mine to Wal-Mart and put them in the change machine there. I don't have enough patience to go through them and wrap them. I turned most of mine in last year.

That's why I take it to Kroger's and dump it all in the coin machine.
