This is Verwayne commenting on Lisa's post. Oddly enough, all of this occurs as I was editing 'My Long Road Back,' for fresh uploading to Amazon. I will be posting it in my ReWrite segment shortly. The story centers on the aftermath of a skull fracture that I got while working in a prison's psych ward. I might have looked 'normal' for decades, but there was something seriously wrong with me mentally and emotionally.

I just sent that freshened story up, but as has happened every time I have opened it, I get a headache from the memories. BUT... it was writing this story for the first time back in 1989 that began the healing process. I had wasted eight years of my life in pain and emotional agony because PTSD was not recognized yet. That wouldn't happen until late in 1994.

I understand the fright that grabs my wife's mind, and I hope that as she can slowly begin to lay it out so that Lisa can see that none of this was of her doing. Just as I told my daughter when she was sixteen, I have explained to my wife that no one and I mean absolutely no one, has the right to slap or hurt you. The first time should be the last because it should tell you that your partner has issues. It is a well-documented fact that one case of abuse always leads to the second... and then the third... and the fourth. Leave and stay gone the first time.

I intend to talk her through this while still allowing her to use her own words... with a cleanup session after she has it down. I will have her heavily involved in the editing sessions and then make sure that she agrees to what we do to her story. The 'fear' will always be there, but I will do my best to make sure that it eases into the mist of her mind.

With her permission, we will ease it into Blog-It-ville for you to see.

Have fun with the visitors and I know you won't let the lad overdo things. That was something that I learned with my writing. Write what you know about. I could write my book Tom Ugly because i had done much research and stufy on the australian aboriginal people BUT I still spent hours and actually several years studying before Iwrote the Book.

I exorcised a lot of bad memories when I wrote Good Ole Joe.

Lisa, I just hope it doesn't bring back bad memories when you write about it.
