My grandchildren do get honor roll but I never did. English was my best subject and I always walked away with straight A's but algebra was a whole different subject. I got a D- and the teacher made me promise to never take the class again. What can I say? One time I got called down to the principal's office and they asked me how it was possible that I always got A's in English but not algebra. I told him that I loved English. I didn't understand algebra but when I took my college exams I actually did quite well in all different subjects. Biology was a subject just like algebra for me but any kind of English made me very happy.

At least you had the mindset to want to achieve honor roll.
The honor roll is something that we took seriously with our daughters. I never made the honor roll in high school; like you, I also scored in the 70s. Our daughters always hit honor roll, and now our granddaughter does.
