- Go to Early 1900's - Lucy's struggle
I only hope that she had a peaceful old age, she certainly deserved one.

93 was really old for those times.
Lucy sure did live a hard life. It would appear that her marriage was all business and no love. It is a shame that she was put through that, but I am sure that the options were limited for women during that time.

Lucy's life was in turmoil
Wow! Throughout Lucy's years, she had a rough life. Her second husband was not a nice man. I just cannot tolerate that kind of behavior from a man. I have never had to but there are so many cases of spousal abuse even now. It sounds like he was not nice to the children and that is very sad. I wonder if he could have been bipolar or just could not handle the children? Education is so important and to not allow his step-daughter glasses is cruelty in my book. How sad is this??? I've always wanted the best for all children and evidently back in the 1900's Lucy didn't have many places to turn to. Thank goodness she had her parents. I personally would have made him sorry he was ever born but that's just me. I think I might be sounding negative right about now but I guarantee life would not have gone the way he thought it was going to go.
