Maryland has had those issues as well. The prison population makes our tags, and they often catch different slang most would not.

I remember watching Carlos Mencia. He called the DMV in California. They refused to do racist plates such as the "n" word. He asked about wetback and they said yes!

License plate
I can see why they won't issue certain tags to people. I've never been a fan of personalized plates. I just take whatever they give me and I'm happy.
