Once I am up by double I leave.

We split any winnings that are over $50, but we go to the casino with $40 each. If one of us is down, we wait until the other wins or else we leave. We never bet heavily. We see people bet $3-5 dollars a hand. That is not even a thought for me other than it is dangerous. We bet .20 to .30 per hand. It allows for longer playing time and less danger.

I belong to a chat support group for Gambler's Anonymous and the stories are heartbreaking.  I really am fortunate I didn't get a deeper addiction.

I can definitely attest to the addiction to gambling  being compared to the addiction to smoking, alcohol, or drugs.  it's subtle at first and keeps pulling you back to the point of no return.

I had a friend who gambled everything. She had tens of thousands in debt. She emptied her 401k to pay off her debt and banned herself from the casinos.
I decided that I would go with a maximum of 20 and any winnings I took home. I did. My mom was surprised when I gave her my paltry winnings.

I would love to read more. I can spend money when I have some extra; but I always bring back parcels and bags to open up. LOL It can be expensive but I do get something for my day out. I believe that compulsory gambling is an addiction and one has to fight just as much as a sober alcoholic does.
