It would have to be WW I, as they were mostly in the 20s and 30s, I believe.
I've thought Stan would have made a fine dramatic actor--as so many comic actors are--after watching "Putting Pants on Stan" a Scotsman in kilts. But as far as I know, he never did anything but Laurel & Hardy comedies.

Comedy no matter who or how old is great for the soul.
They say that laughter is the best medicine and I do believe that it is a great stress reliever.

Yes I'll go for Laurel and Hardy, My fave scene was when Laurel was opening tins of Bully Beef he had a huge pile of tins and did not know the war was over . I don't know which war it was. Also I remember being quite pleased sitting in the 4p seats when they were in a ghost train film and I thought,look I am not scared.
