Genealogy and historic research is one of my favorite hobbies.
My family does have deep connections to historic events. I have been digging around my ancestry.com account. I am attempting to find a photo from my great grandfather, who fought in WWI and served in the Army from 1917 to 1920 at Fort Adams in Newport, RI. His father served in Gettysburg. After years of research I have learned that my family has covered most of the wars by serving in the military. My hubby also served as did his father.

The depression meant that my parents were engaged for seven years. Dad had been left land but older brothers had got everything into big debt during the 1920's. Dad said if he had no land to fight for, he and Mother would have married and worked things out, Ih the land had been debt free or had a house on it they would have pulled together and been married.

Well one that seems to be of interest to descendants is the man who fought at
Waterloo, and still found time to marry a good woman . He was made Keeper of Wychwood forest by the Duke of Wellington.. I did not think you wanted to hear of my Father's brother who was chained to a gun wheel during WW1
