I'm starting to stock up but not for the pandemic. We live in the Northeast part of the country and every year about this time we start stockpiling for winter. I've been slowly replenishing my herbs and spices for cooking on cold winter days. I like to make a lot of casseroles and crockpot dinners for my family. It's easy for me because it requires less cleanup. I try to buy meat and potatoes when they are on sale. It brings the cost of my groceries down and lately, that seems more important than ever. Our food prices seem to go up every week. I use a lot of frozen vegetables all year long.

Re: Re: adnohr
Fresh fruits and vegetables are probably better for you anyway. I expect my love of cooking will go by the wayside eventually too. Last year the kids decided they would take over the Christmas gathering and, although I did do some off the cooking, it wasn't the complete meal like I used to do. I have to admit I wasn't sorry.

Re: adnohr
I can tell you do. I used to love to cook and had so many big gatherings where i did all of the cooking. When I hit my eighties, for some reason the love of cooking left me. Now I'd rather do anything than cook. Eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies because all I have to do is wash them, maybe peel them depending on what it is. I look at all your food posts wishing I still had the cooking desire.

I love to cook, so even before the pandemic I cooked often. If there is another crisis, I'll cook again!

Re:
I have totally run out of fresh fruit (except for three limes) and for lunch I had some yellow bell pepper, baby carrots and a radish. I'm thawing a serving of frozen salmon for my dinner later in the day. I have eggs but I really, really, really dislike eggs unless they are needed for baking a cake or cookies and it is too hot and humid to bake.

I keep running out. It is such a chore booking a delivery. Some deliveries once non existent appear to be cuddling up to the customers . Never mind I still have two tins of condensed milk and a jar of winkles for emergencies.

All that you have mentioned is so true....bored not hungry... food seems to be the only solace for the troubled souls hit by bad news daily....God knows what's the next crisis...

Food has a major impact on our lives. So many people eat lots and lots of it.

I keep a carton of carb smart brand vanilla in my freezer just in case
the craving hits me. Some times I like to use a topping of canned whipped cream on a bowl of cheerios, but no sprinkles. It adds a touch of idle luxury to the good-for-you stuff.

Re: Kabu
I mostly eat healthy to keep my blood sugar normal, but when I start craving icecream on a hot summer day, I get up and go out to QT to get a pint.

I admit I am not eating well. I have a cookie jar!!!!
but I am not obsessed by anything. I read I do some thing that is exercise. I have my computer and phone. I suppose you are right, there will be yet another crisis.
