The respect I am talking about is more general: Everyone respecting everyone--before making judgements, assumptions, decisions... Especially, respecting everyone's right to be different from ourselves.

Respect for authority is severely underrated.
However, when authorative figures go to unlawful levels, they are showing a blatant disrespect for a citizen's rights. We have to draw a line in the sand at some point and come to a meeting of the mind.

I think adding the element of respect as a priority in all directions would help a lot, too!

Yeah, I guess you are right in that, but as for me, I think we should try a little harder to not be so headstrong in that direction.
