Why do critics wield such great power? An idea for another post for you, if it pleases you? It does please me.

You shower elaborate encomiums on me. Wonder, do I deserve? Light humour adds to the quality of any write or poem. The writers write and critics criticize, both do their jobs as they can. But the status of the poets always remains in higher esteem than critics. Yes, poetry is subjective and here the verbiage matters most. For instance, if you see Shelley and his friend Horace Smith writing the poem Ozymandias, the Egyptian pharaoh Ramassess II. Both published, Shelley's became a classic ... look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair! Wordsworth was seer who communed with nature - he was a visionary. Thank you big sis to whom I tip my hat

Forgot to answer the question - no, absolutely not! They’re too busy assessing how their own critique will read to their - uh, fans, public, readers? I know not the word for people who are great followers of critics.

I think this is absolutely my favorite post of yours, ever! I smiled with delight at the humor slyly woven into the post. Critics have long been the bane of many great artists, as time has shown in the world of canvas art, which was/is juried. As the saying goes, “It’s a dirty job but somebody‘s got to do it.“ But do they? Poetry is subjective, yet having said that, some is better than others. After a basic understanding of verbiage in general, could it simply be that the better poet “sees” his/her truths with his/her heart and soul in a way that reaches and touches more hearts and souls and truths of readers? Ah, but then there are the “rules” of poetry... You have prompted me to re-read those poets mentioned so that I can answer my own questions. :) 5 s

 Thank you, once again.
