Things change for the good and bad with each successive generation. One of our worst dysfunctions is the glorification of violence through the thug and gangsta lifestyle. Young men and women choose to emulate it when they see the easy money and lots of material things.

Not listening to rules, advice and laws is a big dysfunction.
Rushing through life without taking the time to enjoy the world around us. Our parenting methods could improve too. Dysfunction came when we alol decided to no longer listen to or care about each other. Everyone is too busy doing their own thing so that there is little left for anything or anyone else.

I watch my children, who are now adults, and have no qualms whatsoever about the way I raised them. I was rough now and then maybe, but not enough to cause emotional problems, and they learned. Life ain't easy, but they're taking it in stride and owning what they do, as they were taught.

Re: Kabu,
We have all done the best we could with what we knew at the time... Now we know things that were not accessible to us before.
Unless it's doing something useful for you, drop the guilt!
