This is a case of one size does not fit all
I grew up in an Amish community, just outside of Dover, Delaware. The Dover community is one of a few truly “East Coast” communities, along with Lancaster County, the St. Mary’s County, Maryland Amish community, and a few others. Some of their traditions and practices depends on whether they are old order, new order or Mennonites. We live near quite a few different Amish communities and have visited with several of them. Berlin, Ohio is big on business and behaving like the English as they refer to us. Lancaster, PA still lives under mostly old order and they still run their homes on gas rather than electricity. The horse and buggy is still popular, but many of the workers rely on vehicles to get them to work. Some use modern technology, most do not. They travel by train, but never by plane.

They are a very interesting people though they seem strange to people who are not a part of their communities.
