It has been observed that those who most fear abandonment are the most likely to abandon. Your mom must have had a very difficult life.

This hurts me. I've always been close to my sons no matter how far away they were. I sent my grandsons in Chicago a recent photo of their uncle Mark and the one who is an artist is going to do an oil painting of it. I can't wait. Right now he is in the middle of another painting so it may be a while.

So sad. I feel your brother's anguish.
My father-in-law expected my husband to send home military allotments as well. He had to tell him no more once we decided to get married. We still helped him out as much as we could, but enlisted military do not make a whole lot.
