I heard Garfield actually rallied for a very short time before one too many dirty, unstearalized fingers poking and probing about his wounds closed his medical records permamantly

Thankfully, modern medicine has come a long way since then. It's hard to fathom that's how they did things back then.

Such a sensless tragedy for by even then, surgeons were starting to wash their hands and tried to use clean instruments. Poor man what a horrible death.
