The first community of settlers was established in 1764 and took the name Pittsburgh. A town was laid out in 1784. He obviously liked Pittsburgh considering that he visited it seven times. https://www.pittsburghmagazine.com/george-washingtons-7-trips-to-pittsburgh-were-certainly-eventful/
