good for you. To me renting is always subject to rent going up or the apartment being sold and the new owner wants it for themselves. I feel so safe in my own little yellow house.

Yes that was a good move Pat. I was once offered a house for £5K.
It now would make 500K. I suppose the shortage of land allowed for building has made prices rocket. I remember we once sold land for £150 a plot not very large .Today it would make well over 150K. The lucky folk lived in council properties they were offered the chance to buy and of course had bargains. Of course there are a few places where it bucks the trend.

That was a lucky break for you. It is the American dream to own a home.
Depending on where you live, house prices can be astronomical. I work in real estate all around SW Pennsylvania, SE Ohio, West Virginia, and Maryland. Our market offers a variety of homes for every income. I have never understood paying a half a million for a home simply due to location. My brother is a prisoner to the home that he own's in Boston because of that. We have a similar home to his that was less than $100,000....location, location, location.
