Buchanan is a forgotten president, probably because Lincoln succeeded him. A very intersting backstory.

Many historians concluded that he was the worst president due to the fact that he took no action to unite a country sharply divided over the issue of slavery and did nothing to stop Southern states from seceding in the lead-up to the Civil War. I have no opinion about him because I didn't know the guy.

It is fascinating that his love life was such a big deal in a time when sex was not really discussed. It is kind of shocking that they used the words gay and bisexual in the 1800s.
