My grandfather spoke often of WWII as he served in the Army.
I am thankful that he lived through that horrible time and was able to share his experience with us.

The war years probably have has an impact on all of my life. Born in 1945 one can never forget those years. Every Anniversary year has been so for me too. Now yes it is the 75th anniversary since the end. And no one around where I grew up seemed to be really materialistic. people made do and were happy.

Of course Pat if USA had not joined the war. We were all more or less resigned to the worst conclusion.
