True we are seeing so many things change....some won't survive this & simply vanish...

An intense poem....the close was great.

Re:sassyass 64

Things change, even the charity shops have notices. Please do not leave anything by the door. We are full up. It was a craze to buy old things one could not call them antiques. I bought copper kettles at £5 One would be lucky to get £25 today.

Then I was offered a large house for £5000. it would be probably 5 hundred thousand today.

Re: Kabu

Funnily enough , the local shop keepers were up in arms when a Woolworths store opened. I think their price was sixpence, yes one could buy a bucket for sixpence.

Of course eventually because places kept expanding there was a nice trickle of trade for most shops.

Re:Pat

Yes I guess there will not be a big resurgence of high street shops. No It was a  change of venue after that.

Re: FS.

Yes I guess so FS, but not many of the walkers experienced wartime. I think it is  more of a  breakdown of natural reserve.

For a lot of people, it is does remind them of wartime. As for me, I've never had wartime on American soil, so I do not know...A poem that makes one think.

It seems the demise of small businesses due to the virus is not just

in one country. Sad to think of all those hopes and all that hard work, just zapped away by a trick of fate.  I'd like to give the guy a rose who returned the dog's favors all wrapped in newspaper.

Re: Love those old Dime stores.

The Woolworth's restaurant served really inexpensive

meals. They had them in Australia,  Kabu.

lat year when I was in the USA I visited a 5 and Dime Store. We didn't have them in Australia. We had a Coles store where one was supposed to be able to buy things for a penny.

So many mom & pop shops are gone and it is sad.

The bric brac was once a sought after thing, but now hardly anyone goes to stores looking for these treasures.
