The townspeople are like that as you described with newcomers. And your neighbors made me recall mine growing up. Very vivid. I liked the part about your mom bring a lady. I’m sure she was.

I expect your family was subject to discussion on arrival, but I expect it all soon settled down.  Fascinating really how things have changed . Yes Hop along  was a great favorite when we sat in the front row of the cinema for 4pence.

You lived there during a time that everybody knew all their neighbors. Play time was outside with the neighborhood kids and not in front of the tv or game console.

Such a great bunch of characters in your new neighborhood.

That 50' antenna had to be quite the sight with television being relatively new. Like you, I would have preffered to play outside rather thasn sit in front of the boob tube. Ironically, we have a Centralia too.
