Home is where the family gathers at the end of the day.
The size of the abode doesn't matter, so long as the people inside are happy and healthy. I love the details of your story. I want to visit that place where the lamps hung, making for a cozy atmosphere. I can almost smell the flapjacks, ham steak and eggs that were served for breakfast.

Your mother had it so hard but you children also had it very hard. What a culture shock that must have been! I'm sure tried her best. Well done.

Your mother was a great spirit. She had tremendous courage and I have never been able to successfully back a trailer behind a vehicle. Ever. But from your perspective it must have been a shocking upheaval.

Yes well, they say home is where the heart is. One cannot but help admiring your Mother. I know she had tough times. Of course as children we see things differently.
