although I grew up in Australia on a farm, I identify so well with your memories. The freedom to roam and the farms around all owned by relatives

Your Mother was a determined Lady. No wonder as children that you felt at times
that strange things were happening over which no one had control. Well that's what I would have felt.

I can almost see that 33 Chevy rolling down the highway...
What a cool story. Kids played all day and created their own games. Life was so much simpler back then from what I have been told. I can relate to playing outside most of the day without supervision. I lived in Oregon and Nevada as a kid, so the scenery of tumbleweeds hit's home as well.
