well written dear Pat. I felt that I was back there.
My Maternal Grandmother longed to travel, to see the World, to have some experiences other than farm work and raising kids. 7 little Australians. Mother would say how when they got home all the rooms were changed around. Everyone had to find their bedrooms. That of course is the sign of a frustrated woman. poor love, she never went anywhere, contracted a terrible arthritis and ended in a wheel chair. She died at 62.

It's amazing all that they did back then. It's impressive what the human spirit can do.

Note: the characters named here are fictional.
The name Calvin Edwards comes from two places: "Calvin" stems from the Calvinist doctrine I found in a community church I once attended. "Edwards" refers to Jonathan Edwards, - the Billy Graham of his day - whose fire and brimstone preaching style made him famous. He's been quoted as saying we are all sinners suspended on a spider web over the fires of hell.

Such a much more simpler time.
Hard work, family dinners, respecting each other, and worshipping God. I love these glimpses into the past.
