Gramma's are the best. Those are really wonderful memories. Coming from a military family I understand the connections. I married a Navy man way back when I was also a waitress. When I took my husband to meet my grandparents, he fell in love with them. I also have amazing memories from childhood with them.

Grandma Lucy and your mom were teaching you what they believed and there were so many people who were of like mind in those days. It's funny, but we often still carry those programs from childhood with us though we see the world through different eyes.

Grandma seems to have held a mixture of church doctrines...LOL...but a mixture of fire, brimstone, and bull-excreta did seem to be the normal way to keep people scared to stray from the straight and narrow path.

Grandma Lucy had her twist of hell, fire and brimstone in the form of purgatory it looks like.
