Out of all these comments, I think I would choose to eat with sassyass tonight.  I just love good Mexican food.

Why not share some of your experiences and the recipes from them....book idea?

Oops! Ciel - Still have a learning curve with the iPad.

Yes, I had three volumes of "Mastering the Art of French Cooking," but one seems to be missing? Also I have my dad's old Escoffier cookbook. One of his hobbies was cooking.

For Argentine stew there are short ribs, chicken, a little salt pork, carrots, onions, garlic, tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage wedges, winter squash or pumpkin, green pepper and parsley. Salt, pepper and heat (I guess) to taste. These items simmer and are served on a platter. One then takes the veggies and meats one desires, puts them into a wide individual bowl, and then pours the most delicious broth, which has been reserved, over them.

Mixed success

I made the Japanese pancakes, and will make them better next time--rice flour, instead of wheat, and more egg in proportion to flour. I added some chicken linguisa, a kind of Chinese sausage. I do love our local Asian Pacific market!

Re: RPresta,

What goes into an Argentine stew?

Do you have Julia Child's THE ART OF FRENCH COOKING on your cookbook shelf?

Re: sassyass,

That sounds delicious! I especially like the chile rellenos, but not too spicy!

Authentic Mexican is my first choice. Quesadillas, enchiladas, and chile rellenos.
