Awwww....! I use a Melita style drip system, and the worst that can happen is to pour the water clumsily and bend the filter so coffee grounds get into the coffee... sometimes lots of them!

Sorry, your comment section is not big enough that I write all my moments of inattention, and the results! Latest one though is pouring sugar instead of coffee into the fillable pods for the Keurig machine. I had to clean and rinse the whole machine, BEFORE being able to drink a cup of coffee, that I badly needed to get the job done efficiently.
