Yes we are on a meter for water and try to fill tanks. Last summer it was hard work no rain for days on end.

Pat some words cling a lot of servicemen only young boys then were puzzled by certain phrases as we would have been I am sure if the position had been reversed.Pat I confess very often I have to go back to see what if or any comment I have made. Be happy

I think it is ,or was a common English word. A lot of Yanks as we called them picked up English words. I once said to a soldier pushing a pram
Are you taking the baby out for an airing. Words spread like crazy through Army camps.

Now I'm embarrassed. I always thought it meant a month....so I looked it up and now I know, but the way I forget things probably next time I see it I'll think it's a month.

I don't think Americans use "fortnight" much - My HS English teacher
was from England - married a yank at the end of WWII - and she used the term, but most of the provincials here just say two weeks. Thank you for the comment on my "average bear" post. Still grinning about it.

Earlier than today's trends, the township next to my hometown had a compost pile composed of the leaves the Department of Public Works collected off the streets. My father would bring containers home for my garden sir.
