Re: Ciel
I shall have to gather a few more, no-one seems too. Although last year there was a couple of strangers looking for them. I really like pickled walnuts but those one buys are always too soft or something.

Just putting a little honey on them is very like baklava without the pastry. I also like almonds, especially as almond paste in a croissant. And pecans... bits dropped into the oatmeal or any cold cereal... I hear they are all quite good for you, full of nutrition!

Re: I do love walnuts, especially chopped and added to an apple salad
Well Pat there are two large trees near me no one ever bothered to collect the walnuts
My brother picks them up mainly because they get smashed on his driveway..
When our needs are simpler . As long as they are not in the mind.

Re: FS
I thought walnuts were eaten by almost all. We get a lot of ours from California.

I've never had a walnut in my life. They were just never a part of the family eating...Smiles can lead to so many different things, some good, some bad.

I do love walnuts, especially chopped and added to an apple salad
with a few dried cranberries or seedless grapes (or both) and eaten chilled - it may be what they call Waldorf salad, but I prepare mine in the food processor when I don't feel like wearing my dentures to chew the big apple chunks. You know there are so many fewer eligible guys to go around in the decades past 50, that the ladies will take an interest in one who is ambulatory even if his wit isn't as sharp as she might prefer...
