Re: Re: Corbin

They live in tunnels along the shore of a creek or pond. It's a sport here in Kentucky called "Coonin" You walk along the shore Feeling for the tunnel entrances with your hands or feet. When you find the entrance, you prepare to reach up into the tunnel and grab the turtle and pull it out. Sound like fun?
There is one good item...they face inward in the tunnels, so the snappin' mouth is facing away from you.
I might add that it's not full-proof, and in the mountains of Eastern Ky, you can see lots of men with a finger or two missing.

Re: Corbin
Your ducks are cool .Here they lay their eggs early in the morning so we keep them in until they oblige. It is pretty murky at the bottom of a pond enjoy.

I found out about Ducks eggs on the bottom of the pond. That occurs when the ducks are out on the pond, getting ready to go back to the nest and lay their eggs. There are thunderstorms in the area, and lightning bolts start striking the water. Resulting in a total egg release to the bottom of the pond....if you crack one open you will find it to be hard boiled........"Honest"!

Fun to read. Made me start wondering what else Mary might have had--perhaps a skunk? Once, camping out in the bottom of the Grand Canyon a little skunk managed to crawl into my backpack and ruined most of the food we had taken along for snacks.

I've never seen eggs in a pond because snapping turtles will eat all of them.

Love the update on Jack & Jill... What fun...
I had no idea ducks would lay eggs in the pond - I've seen Mallard duck nests built in the reedy areas along the shore and in nests concealed behind fallen logs...
