It is hard to feel at ease with such a person. It is very hard to cope with the uncertainty of moods. You must do what you think best for your own sake.

You are correct in your assessment of what you should do about distancing yourself from this person. It is difficult but you don't need that treatment.

I would guess that we all have someone like that in our lives since, as of 2017, one in five U.S. adults suffer from some type of mental illness. I guess that means that we all need a lot of patience and understanding.
