I think most of the pallets are just plain wood these days as no one seems to bother to collect them. I agree once there was quite a price quoted if they were not returned perhaps the laws prohibit treatment these days . I tell him to wear a mask I wish he would not do it but he is 70 what can I do?.

My favourirte is pickled walnuts but the shop ones always seem to be over pickled.
Twenty years ago one could not sell flowers, but now most front gardens are car parks.
This terribly dry weather is just about too much .

My mother made excellent pickled beets. I guess some people prefer the old methods of paying for flowers. And your poem was outstanding. Well done.

If those pallets are made with treated lumber to protect against
damp rot, the chemicals in the smoke may be toxic when they burn. Most of the pallets I've seen around this area have been untreated.
