Saving and budgeting

A few generations ago, saving was on the top list for families. They didn't rely on social welfare programs and food stamps. Things have changed. In today's economy, few people save anything and the nation is in debt. Families have little in the way of savings today. One reason is that they see no incentive to save as low-interest rates don't increase prosperity. But when a crunch comes, they're caught flat-footed, having to struggle through difficulties. Saving is just as important today as ever before. The family that budgets will survive the next depression.
