It wasn't frightening to me. But I could see that some of our soldiers were scared. Didn't stop 'em from doing what needed to be done, though. No women in the ranks in those days.

How frightening for you to watch the men (boys) and I imagine some women, march off to war! A horror...

You are right - it's neither glory nor adventure... I hope the wrong turn on the parade ground was the worst luck you had in service.

I was a enlisted soldier . I remember some signing to go to Korea thinking it might be a great adventure. War is nothing of the sort. I remember feeling the need for female company . I was not a good soldier I once turm right instead of left on the Parade ground. Took four more with me. Funny afterwards.

I like reading about moments in history, especially those I wasn't around yet, for I wasn't born. The Korean War did have a major impact. It seems to have gotten sandwiched by World War II and Vietnam.
