Re: Shams-i-Heartsong,

When Constantine gave his support to a particular Christian sect of his time, he gave that sect the power to decide things like which books were to be acknowledged as New Testament canon and which, apocrypha. Had the gnostic sects of early Christianity been so empowered, I imagine they would have crafted it rather differently. So, few now read them or even think of them, but the gnostic books are out there, and some offer quite interesting takes on the teachings of Jesus.

As to the Old Testament, reading it as history of the Hebrews in the lands of the Middle-east, their enemies are always enemies. However, there is truth in the remains of Philistine habitations which are now being discovered and revealed that show other sides of that culture. There may not be literal books that were written, but their own history is 'written' in their artifacts.

Re: Re: Corbin Dallas,

Those are office holder names in the Klan.  Like the "Grand Poobah".

When did they flip their positions?  The Reps have been against Slavery from the beginning.

99% of African Americans voted the straight Republican ticket for three generations, roughly 1870 through the 1920s.

What does your theory say about the Bible?

Re: Re: Corbin Dallas,

How did they flip their positions...the Dems maintained a weakened form of slavery all the way up to the mid-'60s.

Re: RPresta,

At least more than just one or two. It's like my mom who was a gourmet cook with a huge library of cook books. When she wanted to cook something new, she would look up the recipe in several books then close them all and go make it.

Anyone wanting to learn history is going to have to really dig into every available resource to determine what is what, it seems.

Re: CCT,

I can't blame the young for not knowing what their elders didn't make sure they knew.

Sadly humans forget rapidly and often suit themselves when comparing History.

Re: Corbin Dallas,

Of course, the early Democrats and Republicans pretty much flipped their positions over time.

"Kleagle" and "Exalted Cyclops"?  In any other context, it would sound like they meant to be funny.

Both Presidents in the Civil War were from here in Kentucky.  The south (democrats) continued their traditions and evolved into the "hoods" (KKK).

Robert C. Byrd is best known as the longest-serving senator and longest-serving member in the history of the United States Congress.  Sen. Byrd, was a recruiter for the Klan while in his 20s and 30s, rising to the title of Kleagle and Exalted Cyclops of his local chapter.

Re: FSI,

Agreed... We have to realize the other versions are out there, and so are the evidences for the most true versions.

We have to search for all the histories to get a full picture of what really did happen.
