I remember once oinks ago . there was a traffic light , not much traffic about in those days. We waited and waited it did not change. My dad was driving, he said we cannot stay here all night.There was no vehicle in sight so he drove slowly past, Out ran an old man shouting and swearing, He must have been asleep, in those days the lights were hand controlled.

No, I haven't. When traffic lights have been out for any reason, people have been good at doing the four-way stop thing.
