Lovely mind picture, the deer browsing, snow melting...
We have deer in this neck of the woods, too - even in town. There's a lot of natural wooded acreage around the central campus (it was a 2,600 acre plot in the beginning) and restored prairie areas. It's not uncommon to see herds of five or a dozen any time we drive through the campus around dusk.
