I usually don't have much trouble staying out of the way of large critters, the need for lethal protection is very minimal. As for the leg, it was removed. I have made the best of the situation though and become a pirate. I have a picture of said pirate persona posted with my "I want to be a pirate" poem.

We raised angus cattle, cattle drive ment we drove the truck and the cattle followed cause that was where the hay was.
