Re: C C T
"Would that so called beauty was not confirmed by the emnellishment of goodness?" is thought-provoking indeed, C C. I think she must have been a well-meaning lady, but her beauty and wealth led her also to be laced with high opinion of herself, must have made her ego hurt and status lowered, so that she had to make a show of her pretences. But, personally I feel that she must definitely not have been crooked.

Quite interesting, a truly poetical enlightenment of a certain class of society woman of her time.
Would that so called beauty was not confirmed by the embellishment of goodness knows what.

You are so welcome, and deserve the praise. One can tell how you do like them, Dryden and Pope. Please continue, as we all benefit from your patience with us as you impart your knowledge of literature upon us.

Re: Aba Brother
Thank you big sis for showering rich praise on my write. Actually Pope as mock-heroic, and John Dryden as satirist, are my two most favourite wiriters.

Aba Brother
What sheer delight to read your post about Belinda being portrayed as a goddess! It was interesting and enlightening and I am looking forward to reading more. But I may have to visit Pope's writings and peek ahead, if I have time, as you've piqued my interest. Thank you. A wonderful post.
