Hip replacement will be a trial of several weeks of pain and recovery, and she may need reminders how much better it will be, finally.

When Charlie's dad had the knee replacement, he said later, "I had to remind myself for the first three weeks that I volunteered for this."  And it did get better, finally: He is very glad to have his functioning knee back!

Well of course you feel for them it is a nice little community that you have there.

Some are remarkable under duress, one wonders if one would feel ,well as brave I suppose.
