Re: Pat,

I have sampled some of the results both dry and reconstituted. I am waiting on some blueberries right now, sitting in a bowl of water. I have tried the apples and strawberries, dry, and their flavors are very natural. The texture is a bit like styrofoam, however, I have read that, powdered, the strawberries make a great flavoring agent.

The dried sausages (precooked) and the canned tuna are good snacky things, but I have yet to reconstitute them. Same with the vegies.

All in all, these are far, far better than canned or dehydrated for flavor. And dehydrated takes much, much longer to reconstitute.

I've had the camping foods like beef stroganoff and chili mac which were really good!

I overlooked the "freeze" part of your description in the first post and

was under the impression you were dehydrating. Your latest post makes what's happening even more interesting - I'd be interested in hearing how you like the end result, if the freeze-dried food tastes as you expected, etc.

Re: CCT,

I used to buy this sort of thing for camping trips. It's extremely light, and tastes fresh and good when reconstituted. Some, fruits especially, can be eaten out of the pack like candy.

Well it does seem a better way than drying with heat. I expect you will be eager to try the result. Yes a bit rough on Charlie, of course a lot of opportunities are already in the bag for different reasons.
