Re: Corbin
No just the sweet pea flowers seeds inside. We will plant tomatoes next month can not put much outside until mid May too many night frosts. The mildest here for a long time, oops I should not have said that.

Re: RP.
Sweet peas the flowers are quite hardy but they are better
raised with protection and planted out in May.
we find it is cheaper to buy vegetables than try to grow them in small lots.
Except tomatoes and peppers and I like to sow early carrots in food-proof pots.
Honestly RP I can't remember which poem it was if i go back I'll lose this
. Glad you liked it,please always say if you don't.
I have a little red spot under my eye it does not appear to be getting bigger
, but I am keeping the other eye on it, well you know what I mean.

Re: I believe the ground here is frozen - it's been at or just below freezing
Yes Pat Archie filled the trench in with our collected horse manure. He said don't get on the ground until its frozen. I put some wire frames down and covered the manure over, I expect he will grumble tomorrow..

Your planting things now? You don't have to worry about any winter freezes?

How generous of you to donate to the hospice. Be careful digging trenches in slippery soil and cold weather. The sweet peas, you meant the food, not the flower, right? Your poem was really clever and a fun read, one I did so enjoy.

I believe the ground here is frozen - it's been at or just below freezing
for several day, plus which it's topped with about 8" of snow. But even if it were warm and soft, I would not be able to dig a 40' trench, even a shallow one without a sit-down or two. I remember using a hoe to dig planting trenches in the garden many years ago, but it was more fun setting up bamboo tripods and planting beans at each pole, so the beans could climb. The reward in gardening is that it keeps you slim and eventually, well fed.
