Re:
No I can't say I like pickles myself RP. Probably we are never really hungry. Yes things change and we hardly notice.

Chutney is fun. You never know whether you are going to just love it or hate it until you try it. I haven't done a lot of cooking lately, but yesterday I made an apple dumpling dish for P.D. to take home to Phil. He just loves things like that from Grandma.

Re:
Well I guess if you make it the taste would be great. Sadly bread is not like it used to be.

Re: I love your descriptions of food, reminds me of things my mother knew
Thank you Pat. I noticed the lady in the blog below has placed various jars of pickled goodies. I remember m Mum pickling eggs in water glass during W.W.2. We kept chickens and eggs were rationed.

Re: FS.
Yes it takes a good man to peel a sack of onions FS. Very true your observation.

Onions make me cry, too. They have quite an effect...Through love, we often find our way in this world, although the journey to get there takes a lot of twists and turns.

I love your descriptions of food, reminds me of things my mother knew
about pickling and preserving that I didn't need to know by the time I was a housewife. There have never been dill pickles quite as crisp and flavorful as those she made in a crockery tub, freshly picked cucumbers and dill from her garden, white vinegar, salt and I don't remember what else. I'm going back to read your poem again, to soak up the mood one more time. Wistful and bittersweet.

That was nice of Archie. The idea of those onions is not appealing to me personally though. Your poem is great in how it tells, especially at this time of year, of reminiscing about so many things from our past.
